Seating Team Leader/Supervisor – Product Engineering

Job Overview:

We are seeking a skilled Seating Team Leader – Product Engineering (Complete Seats) to join our Client’s team. The successful candidate will report to the Seating Manager – Product Engineering. You will supervise and lead the complete seating engineering team, ensuring efficient collaboration and optimum performance. Provide guidance and support to team members, fostering a positive and productive work environment.

Responsibilities:

Oversee the development of complete seating products, ensuring adherence to design specifications, customer requirements, and industry standards.
Manage project timelines and coordinate activities to meet project milestones.
Serve as a point of contact between the engineering team and customers, addressing inquiries, resolving issues, and maintaining positive customer relationships.
Communicate project updates and ensure customer satisfaction with the delivered seating solutions.
Ensure the implementation of quality assurance measures throughout the complete seating design and development process.
Conduct regular reviews to assess product quality, identifying areas for improvement and implementing corrective actions.
Participate in the recruitment, training, and development of team members to enhance their technical skills and proficiency.
Foster a culture of continuous learning and improvement within the team.
Oversee the creation and maintenance of project documentation, including Design Failure Mode and Effects Analysis (DFMEA), Design Verification Plan and Report (DVP&R), and other relevant records.
Prepare regular progress reports for management and stakeholders.
Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including manufacturing, quality control, and supply chain, to ensure seamless integration and communication across departments.
Lead the resolution of technical issues and challenges that arise during the seating design and development process.
Implement effective problem-solving methodologies, such as 8D, to address issues and drive continuous improvement.

Education/Work Experience Requirements:

More than 10 years of experience in completed seat design and development with European customers.
Bachelor’s degree or above in mechanical engineering, automotive engineering, or a related field.
Over 5 years of team lead experience in seating design and development.

Necessary Skills and Competencies:

Solid understanding of complete seating systems, including structures, mechanisms, and materials.
Familiarity with engineering tools and software used in automotive design.
Proven leadership skills, with the ability to motivate and guide a team toward achieving project goals.
Results-driven with a focus on delivering high-quality products on schedule.
Ability to adapt to changing project requirements, priorities, and timelines.
Willingness to embrace and drive continuous improvement initiatives.
Excellent English and German language skills.
Strong communication skills with customers and the ability to collaborate effectively with project teams.
