Seating Team Leader/Supervisor – Product Engineering

Job Overview:
We are seeking a skilled Seating Team Leader – Product Engineering (Complete Seats) to join our Client’s team. The successful candidate will report to the Seating Manager – Product Engineering. You will supervise and lead the complete seating engineering team, ensuring efficient collaboration and optimum performance. Provide guidance and support to team members, fostering a positive and productive work environment.
Responsibilities:
- Oversee the development of complete seating products, ensuring adherence to design specifications, customer requirements, and industry standards.
- Manage project timelines and coordinate activities to meet project milestones.
- Serve as a point of contact between the engineering team and customers, addressing inquiries, resolving issues, and maintaining positive customer relationships.
- Communicate project updates and ensure customer satisfaction with the delivered seating solutions.
- Ensure the implementation of quality assurance measures throughout the complete seating design and development process.
- Conduct regular reviews to assess product quality, identifying areas for improvement and implementing corrective actions.
- Participate in the recruitment, training, and development of team members to enhance their technical skills and proficiency.
- Foster a culture of continuous learning and improvement within the team.
- Oversee the creation and maintenance of project documentation, including Design Failure Mode and Effects Analysis (DFMEA), Design Verification Plan and Report (DVP&R), and other relevant records.
- Prepare regular progress reports for management and stakeholders.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including manufacturing, quality control, and supply chain, to ensure seamless integration and communication across departments.
- Lead the resolution of technical issues and challenges that arise during the seating design and development process.
- Implement effective problem-solving methodologies, such as 8D, to address issues and drive continuous improvement.
Education/Work Experience Requirements:
- More than 10 years of experience in completed seat design and development with European customers.
- Bachelor’s degree or above in mechanical engineering, automotive engineering, or a related field.
- Over 5 years of team lead experience in seating design and development.
Necessary Skills and Competencies:
- Solid understanding of complete seating systems, including structures, mechanisms, and materials.
- Familiarity with engineering tools and software used in automotive design.
- Proven leadership skills, with the ability to motivate and guide a team toward achieving project goals.
- Results-driven with a focus on delivering high-quality products on schedule.
- Ability to adapt to changing project requirements, priorities, and timelines.
- Willingness to embrace and drive continuous improvement initiatives.
- Excellent English and German language skills.
- Strong communication skills with customers and the ability to collaborate effectively with project teams.
