Seating Team Leader/Supervisor – Product Engineering

Job Overview:

We are seeking a skilled Seating Team Leader – Product Engineering (Complete Seats) to join our Client’s team. The successful candidate will report to the Seating Manager – Product Engineering. You will supervise and lead the complete seating engineering team, ensuring efficient collaboration and optimum performance. Provide guidance and support to team members, fostering a positive and productive work environment.

Responsibilities:

  • Oversee the development of complete seating products, ensuring adherence to design specifications, customer requirements, and industry standards.
  • Manage project timelines and coordinate activities to meet project milestones.
  • Serve as a point of contact between the engineering team and customers, addressing inquiries, resolving issues, and maintaining positive customer relationships.
  • Communicate project updates and ensure customer satisfaction with the delivered seating solutions.
  • Ensure the implementation of quality assurance measures throughout the complete seating design and development process.
  • Conduct regular reviews to assess product quality, identifying areas for improvement and implementing corrective actions.
  • Participate in the recruitment, training, and development of team members to enhance their technical skills and proficiency.
  • Foster a culture of continuous learning and improvement within the team.
  • Oversee the creation and maintenance of project documentation, including Design Failure Mode and Effects Analysis (DFMEA), Design Verification Plan and Report (DVP&R), and other relevant records.
  • Prepare regular progress reports for management and stakeholders.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including manufacturing, quality control, and supply chain, to ensure seamless integration and communication across departments.
  • Lead the resolution of technical issues and challenges that arise during the seating design and development process.
  • Implement effective problem-solving methodologies, such as 8D, to address issues and drive continuous improvement.

Education/Work Experience Requirements:

  • More than 10 years of experience in completed seat design and development with European customers.
  • Bachelor’s degree or above in mechanical engineering, automotive engineering, or a related field.
  • Over 5 years of team lead experience in seating design and development.

Necessary Skills and Competencies:

  • Solid understanding of complete seating systems, including structures, mechanisms, and materials.
  • Familiarity with engineering tools and software used in automotive design.
  • Proven leadership skills, with the ability to motivate and guide a team toward achieving project goals.
  • Results-driven with a focus on delivering high-quality products on schedule.
  • Ability to adapt to changing project requirements, priorities, and timelines.
  • Willingness to embrace and drive continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Excellent English and German language skills.
  • Strong communication skills with customers and the ability to collaborate effectively with project teams.
